IRON MAN 2!!!

I probably had one of the best Fridays ever on the day we came back from Quebec. Take a guess but do not look at the title cause it's a very big hint and it will ruin the fun. Well whatever you thought, the reason why was because when I rang the doorbell to my house, my mom opened the door (and said hi and hugged me and all that), she took my suitcase and put it at the side and then she told me "we're going to watch Iron Man 2!" Yeah, inside me, I was like OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD over and over again. So we went to the Scarborough Town Center theater, ate a quick dinner at the food court and then we went earlier to get seats and popcorn but we didn't expect to see that many people there already. We had to sit at the front rows which wasn't exactly what you would call comfortable. But I wasn't going to let that ruin my night. So when the trailer of upcoming movies were playing, one of those trailers happened to be "Eclipse" and when Taylor Lautner came out (not literally), this guy at the back was like "Oh My God, it's Taylor Lautner!" And then you know how before the movie starts there's like this little scene where you see a guy on motorcycle going from Egypt and all that and you see the scorpion and that guy runs through like a movie shooting, that cartoon. So at the end of that scene it gets really loud and when the sound cut off, this guy at the back AGAIN, shouted "Um-ma" (mean mother in Tamil but I didn't know how to spell it) really loudly and everyone in the theater started laughing. So yeah.

The movie, was pretty good. It was really funny. That is for sure. If you watch this movie, I guarantee you will laugh at least 2 times. At the middle-end it was sort of like "Transformers" though how the other Iron Man suits looked like Transformers. Robert Downey Jr. is really an amazing actor and he is just soo funny! I really did like the movie. I wouldn't say it's really really good, but it was still good. The fighting at the end was really cool and the special effects were amazing.

My Brother's Birthday

Yesterday (April 28), was my brother's birthday! So I didn't get him anything - as usual. Hey, don't think it's because i'm cheap, it's because i'm broke. :) So after band (and playing with Suby outside), it was time for dinner! Yummy Yummy dinner! We bought a 60 piece sushi plate, and boy was it good! I'm reaally starting to like tuna (no not Tina). And we had other food too but I liked sushi the best. After we ate a cake from Diary Queen which probably has the best ice cream cakes! But Baskin Robbins does to. After that not much really happened. But the cool thing is that Linda Ge from 7G as the same birthday as him! My parents got him an ipod touch 32g. But what's so funny is they only paid for half of it and he had to pay the rest. After that not much really happened.

*Remember to go to the breakdance workshop every Thursdays after school!

The Sheperd's Granddaughter

From what I have read from the letters about the controversy of the book "The Sheperd's Granddaughter," I DO NOT think that this book should be pulled from the competition because the book didn't say that every Israelis did those things. And they did do those things so why shouldn't people know about this? It's not fair to the author too because of an organization (that dislikes it), her book is now put in jeopardy. Think about it, the author wrote this book for who knows how long and worked so hard on it, and then she is told that her book is going to be pulled out from the competition AND libraries. How do you think she would feel? How would you feel if your book that took you a long time to write was suddenly just kicked out? I know I would be very angry and upset. I also don't get why Brian Henry thinks why kids shouldn't know these things. I understand that he worries for his children but hey, there gonna find out one day, so why not today? But if you really don't want to, then just don't let your kids read it but it should not be taken away from the Red Maple competition. Also, I think if kids find out a book is banned from a library, they would be even more eager to read that particular book so what's the point of banning it then? Adults ALWAYS (maybe not always) encourage kids (more teens) to look at world events and controversial stuff, right? Then shouldn't' this book be a great start then? Besides, they might even see it on the newspaper anyways.

I think that teachers and librarians should decide which books should be part of competitions like Red Maple. Or maybe just a couple of librarians and teachers choose a bunch of books and then the rest of the librarians and teachers vote for the books that they think are the best. And then the top 10 books will be in the competition for the students.:) As for a library, I think the librarian should choose the books because they are the experts on the book so they should be the one's to decide which book are suitable for us. I think that I am old enough to read controversial books (and my classmates) because when you get into your teen years, you start making decisions so of course we can make the choice of reading whatever books you like and we are old enough to choose the books we want to read. And besides, if you don't really like the book and you feel uncomfortable reading it, you can always stop reading the book- its all up to you. If you think your not old enough to read certain books than don't read it.

My fun day!

Today was very fun (Saturday) - well more fun than usual! Well from 9:00am - 12:00am, I had chinese school which sort of ruined the perfect day because I had a calligraphy contest and I failed but I don't really care! Then after that, me and my brother went to T&T to buy yummy sushi and yummy green tea ice cream cake! Mmmmm! When we went home I ate and just "chilled" and at around 3:00 we went to Downtown (or sort of) because it was just such a lovely day. We went to Queen St. East! We didn't go to West because we were going to do a LOT of shopping during March Break. So we started walking and then we came upon a Starbucks! My family doesn't really like starbucks because they think everything there is bitter which is sort of true. So I bought a small hot chocolate with whipped cream and it was yummmy! A bit bitter but I don't mind. SO, we continued to look at different shops and then my brother went to his favorite shop there which sells african masks and drums - and he bought ANOTHER african mask and it's pretty big. So we continued walking and then we went to a bookstore and bought 3 books. My brother bought an african art book and a book about Hercules and I bought a book called "The Princes in the Tower" which i'm sort of interested in. Then we kept walking to interesting stores and then it was finally time to go, but before we went, I bought a Baskins Robbins ice cream and the special cone too! I think it was called Olympic Torch cone or something where there's one cone but there's 2 holders for the ice cream and it was only 2 dollars! While we were walking to the car (and eating my ice cream), my mom and I saw a dog that was walking really slow and we thought that it might be just because it was old but then it started running really fast because - it was trying to catch squirell. Funny right? Then we went home and then went to a friend's house to eat dinner! When I first went there I just played with the friend's son. After dinner, he helped me memorize my speech! Now I memorized 3 out of 5 paragraphs of my speech! After we just played but then we had to go :(
And that was the end of my fun day!

Alice in Wonderland

This is the movie poster for Alice in Wonderland! Pretty cool, eh?

On P.A Day, I watched Alice in Wonderland, the movie directed by Tim Burton - without my brother. LOL! I love Tim Burton films. I don't know why but i just enjoy watching them unless there horror movies. In THAT case, I"ll pass. This movie was pretty good overall for me but when i asked my parents, they said it was okay and that this movie was probably more for kids. I think the mad hatter costume was so cool! It should get an Oscar for it. The graphics were really cool too when Alice was in Wonderland. Some parts were funny too :) I've been waiting forever for this movie to come out. I just like watching Tim Burton movies especially when Johnny Depp is in it too! The Toronto Star gave it a 3 1/2 stars out of 4 and I totally agree! It was much better than the Percy Jackson movie.

plot : Alice Kingsley, attends a party shortly after the death of her father. When she finds out that the party is actually an engagement party to wed her into the family of her father's friend and current owner of his trading business, Alice spots a White Rabbit wearing a waistcoat and pocket watch. She runs off into a maze and follows the White Rabbit through it. She eventually tumbles down a rabbit hole into Wonderland. She soon finds out that the White Rabbit has been searching for "The Alice" who is the only one that can slay the Jabberwocky, a dragon who terrorizes the inhabitants of Wonderland under the rule of the Red Queen.

Cast: Alice - Mia Waskikowska
Mad Hatter - Johnny Depp
Red Queen - Helena Carter <- I think she played Beatrice in Harry Potter
Anne Hathaway - White Queen <- she looks really different
(There's more but I don't know them)
There were a lot of posters for this movie and I like all of them so here are some of them:

Percy Jackson

This is the movie poster of Percy Jackson but to be honest, (and this is what I think!) this is probably the weirdest posters I've ever seen ( not to be mean) but I it's cool at the same time. But i still think if they had a better movie poster more people would of watched it.

On Saturaday i watched Percy Jackson. Overall I think it was okay. The beginning was really boring but at the middle it was really good. I think the book was better than the movie though. Well actually I think most movies that are based on books are never better than the book. The graphics are really cool too - especially for the monsters. It was really cool. They changed some things in the movie that are different by the book which would effect the rest of the series for the movies and it sort of ruins the movie. Some parts of the movies was really funny though. I would of given this movie a 2 1/2 out of 4 stars. Some parts of the movie could of been improved like the beginning because it was really boring and some parts were really confusing. This movie sort of disappointed me cause i was hoping it would be even better but it was still good. But the book was even better.

What its about: Percy Jackson is diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. After going on a field trip and being attacked by a substitute teacher, he soon finds out he is the son of Poseidon, the sea god. He is then sent to camp half-blood, a camp where kids that are born from gods train. Then Percy is accused of stealing Zeus's lightening bolt. He has 10 days to get the lightening bolt back or a huge war will start between the god's and to save his mom who is being held hostage in the Underworld. ( This is the plot in the movie not the book)

The Olympic Opening Ceremony

So on February 12, 2010 the Olympics begun! Yaaay! I stayed up the whole night watching the ceremony and i nearly slept through some parts. Well actually i started watching it at 9 pm because i recorded it so i started from the real beginning and then i caught up live at 11: 30. I skipped some parts that i thought was boring like the speech someone did. But some parts were really cool too! The stadium was pretty cool. There were performances by a lot of people like Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams. I personally thought the ceremony was a bit boring cause some of the performances were really long and then u get... well bored. It was sort of funny when they light the flames, 1 of the poles didn't go up and the people were waiting there forever and they looked so nervous and there faces were like Oh No x3.

It was really sad though when on the same day as the opening ceremony, a Georgian luber died in an accident when he was practicing. He was only 21 years old which was really sad. I saw the video on youtube and it was really, really shocking. But the good thing now is that the officials have changed the rules after the death.

GOOD LUCK CANADA! GO GO GO!
